2022 WSX Pilot Season
WSX World Champs
Each year, 4 World Supercross Championships will be crowned.
Riders
Championship Rounds will follow the established two-class format – each team fielding four riders: two in the WSX (450cc) class, and two in the SX2 (250cc) class.
Teams
The championship will feature an exclusive team ownership structure, with only 10 team licenses available to independent owners, and an unparalleled level of financial support.
Rounds
2022 will serve as a “pilot” season with plans for up to four* rounds, allowing the Championship to establish itself and build momentum leading into 2023.
Prize Money
WSX will feature the richest prize purses in the sport’s history, with a total of $250,000 up for grabs at each Championship Round.
ELITE INTERNATIONAL TEAMS
These independent teams were selected for their significant experience at the highest levels of professional supercross and motocross, and their ability to deliver strong competitive offerings across WSX (450cc) and SX2 (250cc) classes. Manufacturer participation in the series is strong with up to six represented in the FIM World Championship. Over the next three weeks, all ten teams will be announced.

Ware is also a veteran of motocross and supercross, having owned and managed supercross teams in the late 2000s.

Mark Kvamme, a successful entrepreneur and venture capitalist is a long-time industry veteran and former Supercross team owner, who is well versed in championship-level racing, both in the driver’s seat and as an owner. He brings a wealth of operational and technical experience across multiple motorsports and business in general. Combined with his knowledge and understanding of Supercross, he is set up to deliver a first-class and highly competitive race operation. Aiding Kvamme in the relaunch of MDK Motorsports’ Supercross program is Jamey Grosser, a former professional supercross racer turned entrepreneur. Grosser also brings a wealth of knowledge in racing, sponsorship, marketing and team management.
The FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX)
The WSX championship will take place annually in the second half of the year. 2022 will act as a pilot season with up to four* championship rounds. From 2023 the WSX Championship will offer a truly global calendar of races with exciting announcements in the coming months.
TEAMS
- 10 Exclusive team licenses have been issued to independent owners.
- An unparalleled level of financial support is provided to teams. Supercross has never seen this level of support from any championship.
- Seed funding for every team awarded a licence, appearance fees at every event, and logistics and freight support for the global championship.
- More than $50 million has been designated for teams and riders support over 5 years.
RIDERS
- Each team will have 4 riders, 2 in the WSX 450cc class and 2 in the SX2 250cc class.
- Wild card entries will be available at each round to provide opportunities for local riders.

- A total of up to $250,000 per round is up for grabs.
